We Serve Others
We served area youth with:
Easter in the Park (135), Back to School--God is With Me(75 youth)
One of our teens serves as the youth representative on the District Council of Ministries and will attend the í07 annual Conference.
We donated approximately $7000 to:
American Red Cross Relay for life, American Red Cross Bloodmobile,
Katrina & Rita Hurricane Relief, a car accident victim, a member with special medical needs, Holston Home for Children, 2 local high schools special prom events
Lunch for Bland County Fire Fighters Association, brunch for Big Walker Century Bike Ride (71 riders), picnic for Bland High School class of 06 and their families (150),
and roadside cleanup for 4 miles of highway
We saluted with special observances:
Senior members, veterans, mothers, fathers, and deceased members
We are Stewards of Godís Bounty
We made the following facility improvements:
Installed stained glass windows; made improvements to the playground equipment; plumbed water to the park; cleaned, painted, and waterproofed the basement;
made plumbing improvements in basement
Funds for their projects were raised with:
Member donations; Lordís Acre and apple butter projects; various bake sales and catering opportunities. We also applied for a grant from the Refro Trust Fund.
Special outreach methods:
Prayer chain, monthly newsletter, active web page, monthly summer vespers and picnics hosted by church members, and old fashioned hugs and handshakes
